Town are waiting on full-back Moritz Volz ahead of Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace. The German has a groin problem and is rated 50/50 to take his place at right-back, but better news is that the Blues can call on midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski after his one-game ban.

New assistant manager John Gorman says Dutch defender Pim Balkestein could force his way into the Town first team with the Blues currently short of defenders. The 21-year-old has made three starts and three sub appearances since joining from Heerenveen in the summer.

Town full-back David Wright should be back in action in around two weeks after a scan showed no tear to his hamstring. Wright limped off during the second half of Saturday's 3-0 FA Cup victory over Chesterfield with a recurrence of the injury which saw him miss the Birmingham and Derby matches.
